Two friendly Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers named Schooner (age 6) and Dory (age 12) welcome guests to Ashlea House.
Tollers are the only true Canadian breed, bred here in Nova
Scotia to resemble little red foxes and imitate their wild counterpart's very successful waterfowling methods. Tolling, in a hunting context, means to "entice or lure game." Tollers are the world's hardest working hunting retrievers because they are responsible for both luring and retrieving the duck. We don't hunt with Dory but he does his "tolling dance" while waiting for his favourite frisbee to be thrown.
In 2006, Schooner joined Dory as an Ashlea House mascot. They share a grandfather and have become fast friends.

Their first-ever Winter 2010 break in Florida.
