The Victorian Heritage home was built in 1886 |
However, in its history the Heritage home fell into disrepair and endured some decidedly undignified descriptions such as "haunted House of Lunenburg" and "house of ill repute" during the mid-1900's. |

Happily, painstaking restorations to the Heritage home in the late 1980's revived the original grandeur of Ashlea House Bed and Breakfast, including some of the Lunenburg's last surviving exterior Victorian gingerbread trim. A fourth-floor Widow's Walk that offers a panoramic view of Lunenburg harbour and the surrounding area of the UNESCO World Heritage site was added during this period.
